Situated about 5 kms from Matheran Railway Station, in the hidden hilly regions of Bhivpuri area, Garbett point offers a panoramic view of the lush green Sahyadri mountain ranges nearby. It's a moderate level trek in terms of difficulty, and it would take our team about 6+ hours to complete the trek. Previous hiking experience would be a big plus, and so would good physical fitness.


Meeting point:

Bhivpuri road station on central railway line at 12:40 am (23rd November, Sunday) sharp.

We will be catching Khopoli train leaving from CST at 10:28 PM on 23rd Nov, Saturday. Timings on other stations are as follows:

10:46 PM - Dadar
11:03 PM - Ghatkopar
11:23 PM - Thane
11:46 PM - Dombivli
11:57 PM - Kalyan
12:39 AM - Bhivpuri Road

Tentative Itinerary:

12:40 AM - Assemble at Bhivpuri road station. If you are late then you will miss the trek.

1:15 AM - After a short briefing we start our trek

4:00 AM - Reach the Garbett Plateau and break for some rest

6:30 AM - Start hiking towards Garbett Point

7:30 AM - Start hiking towards Matheran (Dasturi Naka) after sunrise

9:30 AM - Reach Dasturi Naka. We would catch cabs from here and head to Neral station

10:00 AM - Reach Neral. Have breakfast here and head towards CSMT

How it works?

Cancellation policy:

  • Before 15 days or more from the booking date: 75% Refund
  • Before 7 days or more from the booking date: 75% Refund
  • Before 6 days or lesser from the booking date: No Refund

Things to Remember:-

Few instructions before the trek:

1. Cut your toe nails and wear comfortable shoes

2. Cover your entire body by wearing comfortable full-sleeve t-shirts and pants (this is to avoid insects, thorns, and even reptiles)

3. Review the "Things to carry" list properly

4. Do carry blankets and bedsheets to use while resting on the Plateau (the temperature can go below 20° C during the night)

5. Do carry some fruits / dry fruits, ample water, electrolytes (Electral, Enerzal, etc.), and Odomos

6. If you have any medical condition that requires special medications, please carry 2 sets of medicines and give 1 set to the trek leader (or request the trek leader to bring those specific medicines)

7. Please review the disclaimer document properly

8. You will receive an email regarding a trek route which you should review once on your phone

9. Follow a "Leave No Trace" policy and don't throw even a small piece of trash on the trail. Keep all your trash with you and dispose it responsibly after coming back to the city.

Creating a safe space requires the commitment, accountability, and support from each person in our community. We expect you to respect your fellow trekkers before, during, and after the trek.


Things to carry:

- Headlamp / Torch with extra batteries (Compulsory - Do not rely on the phone torch)

- Sun hat or cap - Sports shoes or trekking shoes (strictly no sandals or chappals)

- Comfortable t-shirt (preferably dri-fit and full sleeves)

- Comfortable trousers (no jeans or shorts)

- Extra pair of clothes and a hoodie (weather gets chilly before sunrise)

- Water (at least 2.5 liters per person)

- Some electrolyte powder (such as Electral, Enerzal, etc.)

- Light snacks to munch on during breaks

- Fresh fruits / Dried fruits such as dates, figs / Nuts mix etc for eating along on the trail

- A small day pack to carry all the above (Kindly avoid hand bag / sling) - Personal medications, if any - Optional items: sun goggles, wet tissues, hand sanitizer etc.

Jeet Bhanushali has been leading treks in the Sahyadris since past 3 years and is a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) from NOLS which is the best Outdoor Education School of the US.

He loves to use tech to make hiking simpler for the participants and aims to bring a culture of DIY hiking across India one day. Jeet is the Co-founder of ThrillBear India - a company which is trying to make hiking more accessible to Indians and reducing the friction of booking hiking and camping events.
